STATEMENT OF FAITH

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
Northwestern Theological Seminary
represents a foundational sound Biblical doctrine and believes:
- that the Bible is the inspired,
infallible Word of God.
- that there is one God, eternally existent
in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- in the Genesis account of creation.
- in the deity of Christ, in His virgin
birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious
and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily
resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father,
and in His personal return in power and glory.
- that salvation is the free gift of God by
grace, through faith and is possessed by each individual who
has, by grace through faith, received the Lord Jesus Christ as
their personal Lord and Savior.
- in the present ministry of the Holy
Spirit, whose indwelling empowers Christians to live a godly
life.
- in the resurrection of both the saved and
the lost; they that are saved, unto the resurrection of eternal
life in a literal heaven and they that are lost unto the
resurrection of damnation, in a literal hell.
- in the spiritual unity of believers in
our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the head of HIS body, the one true
Church.
- that through the gift of faith, God draws
those who will believe the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- that God’s grace, mercy and love endures
forever.
Northwestern Theological Seminary is a
non-denominational Christian theological seminary. The writers of
the reading materials can range from multiple denominational
positions. However, the student of Northwestern has the right to
present argumentative positions with regards to the writings by
these various authors, if it differentiates in the student's
denominational background or present standing. The student must
present a well prepared essay to counter the author's position and
include a list of references to support their arguments.
This unique approach to study allows NTS to
have a diversified student body, composed from variety of
backgrounds and positions. The principle behind this study method is
not to only understand and defend one's position, but also to
acquire knowledge on the positions of others. This can represent new
acquired knowledge of other positions not normally found in
denominational Bible colleges and Seminaries which may only
represent one view on issues relating to the Christian faith.
This system has proven effective in building a
sense of understanding and tolerance for the sake of unity among
Christian of various denominational backgrounds. The 10 doctrinal
points represented as the NTS Statement of Faith generally
represents the vast majority of Christian beliefs, regardless of
denominational background. Some points may be expanded on by the
various denominational groups to include other aspects of the
belief; however, NTS represents these based on the full weight of
the statements themselves.
It is our commitment to provide students with
a learning environment that will nurture the student's ability to
think and grow in the subjects related to the study of the Bible.
